Privacy Policy & State Privacy Rights
How RecordsRegister.com handles publicly sourced index filings, protects visitor checkout data, and honors instant self-service opt-out requests.
1. Overview & Distinction Between Public Index Data and Customer Data
This Privacy Policy explains how RecordsRegister.com collects, uses, safeguards, and honors removal requests for two distinct categories of information: (a) Public Record Index Filings compiled from open government registries, and (b) Visitor & Customer Information provided when searching, ordering a report, or submitting a support or opt-out request.
2. Public Record Index Information Published on the Service
Our searchable directory indexes public-record abstracts released under state and municipal open-records statutes across five categories: Marriage Records, Property Deeds, Court & Criminal Dockets, People Lookup (State Professional Licenses & Resident Rolls), and Corporate Filings.
Free search results display masked teaser previews (redacting co-spouse surnames and partial certificate/file numbers) to protect against casual bulk scraping. We strictly adhere to an Honest Data Policy: we never invent, estimate, or display synthetic birth dates or ages when the underlying government index only provides a filing year.
3. Information We Collect from Visitors & Buyers
• Checkout & Order Delivery Data: When you purchase a Single Record Dossier or a 30-Day Unlimited Pass, we collect your email address, the specific record reference requested, your selected plan, and the UTC timestamp of your FCRA Permitted-Use acknowledgment.
• Payment Processing via PayPal: All credit card, debit card, and PayPal account transactions are processed directly by PayPal. RecordsRegister.com never collects, views, processes, or stores your credit card number or bank account credentials.
• Security & Rate-Limiting Telemetry: To enforce our Fair-Use Policy and defend against automated scraping and brute-force pass guessing, we process masked IP addresses and interaction counts (such as search queries and report unlock timestamps).
4. How We Use Visitor & Customer Information
We use customer information exclusively to: (a) generate and deliver your unlocked PDF Dossier Report and 30-Day Unlimited Pass Code; (b) send transactional purchase receipts and pass-recovery emails at your request; (c) enforce fair-use rate limits and prevent payment fraud; and (d) process and maintain Privacy Opt-Out suppression records.
We NEVER sell, rent, or trade customer email addresses, search queries, or purchase histories to third-party marketers or data brokers.
5. Instant Self-Service Public Record Opt-Out & Suppression
We respect individual privacy and provide a free, automated Privacy Opt-Out tool accessible from the top navigation bar and footer of our website.
When you submit your full name, state (or 'ALL'), optional File Number, and verification email in the Privacy Opt-Out form, our system immediately marks matching index rows as suppressed (`suppressed = 1`), removing them from live search results, state/county SEO directory pages, and newly generated reports.
6. California (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA) & State Privacy Rights
Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon, and other states with comprehensive consumer privacy statutes have the right to: (a) request disclosure of the personal information we hold; (b) request deletion or suppression of public index listings matching their identity; (c) confirm that their customer data is not sold; and (d) exercise these privacy rights without discrimination or fee.
To exercise your right to remove a public record listing immediately, use the online Privacy Opt-Out form on our homepage or contact our Privacy Compliance Desk below.
7. Data Retention & Security
Customer order records are retained as required for tax, accounting, chargeback resolution, and legal compliance. Opt-out suppression entries are retained permanently so that suppressed records remain hidden across future index updates.
For order inquiries or refunds, reply directly to your receipt email with your order reference (RR-2026-...), or use the self-service Privacy Opt-Out tool on our homepage.
